Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas says the club will continue to spend this summer, after wrapping up the signing of Etienne Capoue.
The France international joins Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Roberto Soldado as new arrivals at White Hart Lane this summer, taking Spurs’ summer spending to nearly £60m.

But the North London outfit have also shipped out several unwanted players, with Steven Caulker, Clint Dempsey and Tom Huddlestone all leaving for substantial fees.
Villas-Boas remains hopeful of making further additions before the close of the transfer window on 2 September, after Spurs narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last term.
“We have been very active in the transfer window – not just players coming in, but players going out. The ultimate objective is to make the team stronger than the year before,” the Tottenham boss told talkSPORT.
“We couldn’t manage to get in the top four spot we wanted [last season]. Our ambition stays the same and for that to happen we have been very, very active in the transfer window. We are trimming down the squad to make it strong.
“We haven’t finished our business. We will continue to be active and hopefully have the team ready in the next few weeks.”
Gareth Bale has been linked with a move away from Spurs, with Real Madrid keen on a world-record deal for the Welshman.
Bale, 24, has not played for Spurs for over a month and Villas-Boas confirmed the forward would miss the club’s opening Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
However, the Portuguese insisted Spurs were not willing to enter negotiations for the sale of the former Southampton star.
“This is a player of great importance for Spurs and a player we are not willing to negotiate for.
“We recognise the interest from other clubs but we can’t do anything at this stage.”
